Managing Chats
NorthSignal stores all your conversations in the sidebar for easy access. Here's how to manage them effectively.
Creating a New Chat
Click the + (New Chat) button at the top of the sidebar. This opens a fresh conversation with a clean context.
Each new chat starts with a separate context window. If you're switching topics, start a new chat to keep things organized. NorthSignal's long-term memory will still be able to reference older conversations when relevant.
Pinning Important Conversations
Have a conversation you want to keep at the top of your list? Pin it.
- Hover over a chat in the sidebar.
- Click the pin icon that appears.
- The chat moves to a "Pinned" section at the top of the sidebar.
To unpin, click the pin icon again.
Searching Chat History
Looking for a specific conversation? Use the search icon at the top of the sidebar.
- Type a keyword or phrase.
- NorthSignal will filter your chat list to show only matching conversations.
- Click a result to jump directly to that chat.
Deleting a Chat
To permanently remove a conversation:
- Hover over the chat in the sidebar.
- Click the trash icon that appears.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Deleted chats cannot be recovered. The messages and their associated vector embeddings are permanently removed.
