Connecting Keys to NorthSignal
Once you've generated an API key from a provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google), you need to save it in NorthSignal.
Opening the Settings Modal
- Click the Gear Icon (⚙️) at the bottom of the left sidebar.
- The Settings Modal will open with a tabbed navigation at the top.
The 5-Tab Navigation

Saving a Key
- Navigate to the provider tab (e.g., OpenAI).
- Paste your API key into the text field.
- Click the Save Settings button at the bottom.
- A success confirmation will appear. The key is now securely encrypted in the NorthSignal Vault.
tip
You can add keys for all three providers. NorthSignal's Intelligent Router will choose the best model regardless of provider — the more keys you add, the smarter the routing becomes.
Deleting a Key
If you need to remove or rotate a key:
- Open Settings and navigate to the provider tab.
- Click the Delete Key button next to the stored key indicator.
- The key is permanently purged from the vault.
To replace it, simply paste a new key and save.
warning
Deleting a key means NorthSignal can no longer access that provider's models. If you delete all keys, you won't be able to chat until you add at least one back.
